Theory of Knowledge (TOK)

Extended Essay (EE)

The IB Diploma score ranges from 0 to 45. Six subjects are graded from 1 to 7 for up to 42 points, and TOK plus EE can add up to 3 bonus points.

You need at least 24 points and must also satisfy the diploma rules, including minimum HL and SL totals and no disqualifying low grades.

TOK and EE are each graded from A to E. Their combination determines whether you earn 0 to 3 bonus points or trigger a failing condition.

A score above 34 is strong for many universities, while very selective programs often look for 38 or higher. Requirements vary by course and country.

A full IB Diploma normally includes 3 Higher Level subjects and 3 Standard Level subjects.
